Things came full circle with Michelle. After one season as the Interactive Coordinator for HelpTV (CareersTV’s sister show), Michelle decided to advance her film/television skills and enrolled into the CTSR program at SAIT Polytechnic in Calgary, AB. Upon graduation, she interned at The Shopping Bags in Vancouver as a Camera Assistant for Brian Beard and continued to practice her skills throughout her travels in South America. After living out of a backpack for almost half the year, Michelle returned to the comforts of her home and chose to take on new challenges with the people she loved to work with. This is her second season with CareersTV.

First Job:
My first job was bagging donuts at ‘Those Little Donuts’ during the Klondike Days Exposition (now the Capital Ex). I learned that people REALLY LOVED their donuts from early in the morning until late at night.

Foot in the Door:
My passion for storytelling stemmed from a three month workshop at the Film and Video Arts Society of Alberta. A condensed version of film school, it touched on all aspects of production. Once that was complete, I started volunteering for HelpTV and was brought on to the team as the Interactive Coordinator the following season.

What I Like About CareersTV:
The people behind the stories - they inspire and motivate me to reflect on my own goals in life. It’s not an easy decision to lay everything on the line and expose your vulnerabilities so I am continually amazed by how many people take the risk and persevere. I love that I’m able to bring their stories to light!
