Welcome to CareersTV
CareersTV is Canada’s premier television show devoted to covering the world of work. Nobody approaches the world of work the way we do.

CareersTV is about real people in real situations – changing careers, taking risks, quitting their day jobs to pursue their lifelong dreams, re-financing their house and spending their nest egg for a shot at creating the career they’ve always dreamed about.

It’s young entrepreneurs wondering if they’ll survive that crazy first year of business. It’s a 30-year veteran, not yet ready to be put out to the pasture known as retirement, deciding to change careers and kick it all off from the beginning.
What's New This Week

Summer Rayne Oakes is bringing awareness to environmental and social issues and she is using fashion to do it. An entomologist and environmental scientist by training, Summer decided in college that she would use cause-related modeling in conjunction with her environmental knowledge to create change in the world. With this model citizen on its side are there greener pastures in store for the fashion world? CareersTV finds out.

Pillow Power
The Pillow Fight League--Two women, one pillow, a fighter’s instinct and one very determined owner… Is it a clever concept or a recipe for disaster… The PFL was founded in 2004 by Torontonian Stacey Case. Though Stacey initially started the league as a joke, he now believes his franchise is the best new concept to hit entertainment sport in a long time. Join CareersTV as we follow the Stacey and his crew as they try to make the PFL a household name and a viable business venture.

UPDATE: Brewing up Business
Ever thought of opening up your own coffee shop or franchise? You're not alone. It's a business idea many people dream about, but surviving the competitive coffee industry is a lot harder than it looks. Just ask Jay Garnett, President of Seattle's Best Coffee Canada, who admits "I had a belief that if I could scratch together the money to get it open, the moment that I got it open it would just be printing money - we weren't profitable for over 4 years." Get the secrets of coffee shop success on this week's CareersTV.

CareersTV also drops in at the Caffè Artigiano in Vancouver, and meets with the popular author of 'Start and Run a Profitable Coffee Bar.' Should you go the franchise route or open your own independent coffee house? As two out of three coffee shops fail in the first six years of opening, you might want to sit back, relax and drink up the hot information.
